Father’s Day Activity Ideas

Are you looking for creative ideas for things to do on Father’s Day? Here are some field-tested winning ideas that you’ll want to consider:

a.) Three words: Breakfast in Bed. Bonus points if the tray includes lots of bacon. I mean, really, name me one father who doesn’t like bacon.

b.) Golfing. Not all dads love golfing, but if they do, it’s hard to find the time. Give pops the green light to play at least nine holes, and maybe one of your Father’s Day gifts should be golf related, e.g., a new golf shirt or putter.

c.) Brewery Tour. It’s hard to read the local paper without hearing of a new brewery opening. There are likely more than a few in your neck of the woods. So, hire an Uber, and let the taste-testing begin.

d.) Behind Third Base Tickets at the Ballgame. It’s baseball and tradition, and many dads love the game. Get some tickets, share some peanuts, and have a blast talking about the times he taught you how to play catch.

e.) Bike Ride around the lake or alongside a river. If it’s a nice day, pump up those tires and get outside in the sun. Have a destination in mind. Hopefully, end up at a place that serves your favorite cold beverages.

More Things To Do on Father’s Day

f.) Frisbee Golf Outing. I mean, anyone can play. Plus, as you’re catching up to your errant throws, it’s an excellent time to catch up with Dad on what’s going on in his life.

g.) Head Out Boating. Get out on the water via a sailboat or motorboat. If the weather cooperates, most folks like being near the water, or in this case, on the water.

h.) A Day at the Races. If there’s a horse track nearby, it might be fun to head out with Dad and bet the ponies. There’s always lots to see and take in, and who knows, maybe it will be his or your lucky day.

i.) Handle the lawn chores for Dad. Swing by with a care package of BBQ ribs and Dad’s favorite beverage, and while he watches golf on TV, handle the lawn chores like mowing and trimming. Then, when finished, come in and catch up with the guy who taught you how to start a lawnmower.

Take Time To Appreciate Dad

Given the significance of your father’s role in your life, it’s a time to pause and celebrate. Someone once said, “Growing old is inevitable, but growing up is optional.” One sign of growing up is recognizing and being appreciative of the people who help you get there.

And, at the top of that list, more likely than not, is your dad. Make his day a special one. Happy Father’s Day!
