Why is the Bundt Cake called as such?
Bund is the German word for Club or Group, and these cakes are served at clubs or group gatherings. Therefore, the previously Gugelhopf came to be known as Bundkuchen (Bund Cake).
Later, when the inventor patented the pan, he added the ‘t’ at the end.

Who invented the Bundt Pan?
Bundt pans, invented by H. David Dalquist in 1950, are a relatively recent invention. This is especially true considering the cake style itself is centuries old.
Dalquist used to own the Nordic Ware company in Minnesota and cast the pan for the Minneapolis-based Hadassah Society. It was initially called a bund pan, but he later added the word ‘t.’ This was probably so because people often made the ‘d’ a soft sound when it wasn’t meant to be.
Some others suggest that this was more for trademark purposes. It could also have been to put some space between his product and the German-American Bund.
