We have all gathered here to celebrate National Teachers Day. Let me take this opportunity to recognize the hard-working teachers I have been blessed to have. Ones who helped us excel in the tough times. They became the ray of hope amidst darkness. They guided us.

This year, especially, teachers have shown their affection towards their students as they struggled to teach us online but did so anyway, for our sake. Let me recognize the challenges they faced to adequately train us for the future that awaits and support us through online classes and tests.

In these difficult times, I would like to thank teachers on behalf of all students for their unwavering support. Thank you for giving us hope, inspiring us, and making us what we are today.”

How was National Teachers Day begun?

In 1953, Eleanor Roosevelt stood before Congress to make Teachers Day official. Nevertheless, it wasn’t until 1980 that the NEA made it an official national day with help from Indiana and Kansas states.

Until ’84, it was celebrated on March 7, but then it moved to May and eventually evolved into Teacher Appreciation Week.

How to celebrate National Teachers Day?

Firstly, remember that a teacher isn’t just one who imparts knowledge in the classroom but any family member, friend, or even a stranger. And this day is to thank them.

The best way would be to plan a party and include as many people as possible to celebrate each. You should also pray for them on this day and send them gifts or at least cards.

Moreover, you can write a poem for them or give speeches at school to thank them. You can also post stuff on social media platforms to show your affection or help them with their tasks.
