Julia Child Quotes

Our wonderful collection of Julia Child quotes captures the essence of her love of cooking, her lively personality, and her joie de vivre.

Julia Child, a television personality and cook, brought French cooking to the everyday housewife. She grew up in Southern California.

Growing up, the family cooking was simple and straightforward, with lots of fruits and vegetables. When Julia married Paul in the 1940s, she had very little cooking experience. She enrolled in the Cordon Bleu when they lived in France for Paul’s job with the American Embassy.

Simone Beck, who was writing a French cookbook, asked Julia to join her as an American collaborator. With the success of their first book, Julia was invited to try out a cooking session on Public Television. The French Chef was launched in 1963. It featured the recipes in her award-winning book, Mastering the Art of French Cooking.
