Why are Teddy Bears called as such?

Teddy Bears got their name from a story about President Theodore Roosevelt refusing to kill a bear cub during a hunting trip. Teddy was the nickname for Theodore, and the people were told about the incident through a cartoon in a newspaper. In Brooklyn, New York, a store owner then made a stuffed toy bear and named him “Teddy’s Bear.” The name became popular among the masses instantly.
