When were nachos invented?
In 1943, wives of US soldiers at Ft. Duncan went to Piedras Negras, a town across Eagle Pass, Texas. There, they went to Victory Club, which had closed for the day. Nevertheless, the manager Ignacio Nacho Anaya threw together a dish with what ingredients he had left. These were tortillas, jalapeño peppers, and cheese.
Are nachos healthy?
With deep-fried tortilla chips and melted cheese, nachos are not considered to be healthy by cardiologists. Nevertheless, you can use baked tortilla chips, ground chicken, lots of vegetables, and some cheese for a healthy recipe.

Nachos are simply tortilla chips covered in nacho cheese or salsa and shredded cheese in the most basic form.
The first written reference to the word ‘nachos’ in English was A Taste of Texas in 1949.
The record for the most oversized plate of nachos ever is held by the University of Kansas. The platter weighed over 4,689 pounds, with over 860 pounds of nacho cheese only. Eighty people came together to assemble it using 1,200 pounds of beef, 315 pounds of jalapeños, and 600 pounds of tortilla chips. Also, the 80-foot creation was sold to the people for one dollar each to raise funds for charity.
Nachos were named after the maître d’ who invented the dish, Ignacia Nacho Anaya. The original recipe was simple, with just fried tortilla chips, shredded cheese, and sliced pickled jalapeños.
Even though Anaya never wanted to get nachos trademarked, his son contacted a lawyer regarding it in 1960. Nevertheless, because two decades had passed since the invention, he was denied the request.
The first US restaurant to feature nachos is El Cholo in San Antonio, Texas. The second one was the now-closed El Cholo in Los Angeles.
Nacho cheese was an American invention for ease as the traditional cheese needed an oven to melt. It also did not have to be refrigerated and, so, was easy to serve at ballparks. The sauce was made available at stadiums in 1976 and soon outsold popcorn, the formed stadium bestsellers.
Even though they are known as Mexican staples, tortilla chips were invented in America. An American tortilla factory used warped and unsellable tortilla scraps by frying them and selling them for ten cents a bag.
